GCRLRA Receives GRANT funding

The GCRLRA has been advised that it has been successful in gaining grant funding for the running of the pre-season training program in 2020.

The program is being run by Olympian Heptathlete Glynis Nunn in which selected GCRLRA officials will over several weeks learn about nutrition, fitness, running and sprinting techniques and recovery.

Director of Coaching, Tom Campbell who put forward the idea and applied for the grant, having saw the need to have a program that assisted officials who whilst had very good officiating abilities needed assistance with their running style or technique to get around the field easier. Further improving the officials abilities on-field.

Feedback has so far been extremely positive from the participating officials and the improvement in their running styles and how they move around the field is already above expectations. The Queensland Government provided $2000 to the Gold Coast Rugby League Referees Association to run a pre-season training program to enable Queenslanders to participate in sport and recreation activities.’
